Finn Juhl (1912-1989) stands among the leading Danish designers who shaped what is known as the golden age of Danish design. His contributions span furniture, decorations, and exhibition designs, all of which earned him international acclaim.

During the 1950s, Juhl was a pivotal force in coining the term ‘Danish Design,’ which not only highlighted Denmark’s export success but also represented a distinct take on modernism in architecture, design, and art. This approach became a hallmark of Scandinavian welfare societies.

Today, Finn Juhl’s furniture pieces are regarded as classics and are displayed in museums worldwide. Notable works like the “Høvdingestol” (Chieftain Armchair) and the “Poeten” (Poet Sofa) symbolize the perfect harmony of practicality, beauty, and refined simplicity.

His private residence in Ordrup, just north of Copenhagen, now serves as a museum showcasing his remarkable ability to unify function, space, objects, color, light, and atmosphere into a cohesive whole.
