Weighing nearly 80 pounds when boxed and shrink-wrapped, SUMO set a new standard for both artistic ambition and technical achievement.

Originally released in a limited edition of 10,000 signed and numbered copies, SUMO quickly sold out and became highly sought after. It is now part of prestigious collections worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The very first copy, signed by over 100 featured celebrities, made history by becoming the most expensive book of the 20th century when auctioned in Berlin in 2000 for 620,000 German marks (around 317,000 euros).

This XL edition commemorates 20 years of the SUMO legacy. Revised by Newton’s wife, June, it includes 394 images along with a booklet detailing the creation of this extraordinary publishing project.
