The Way Of Kings

Beskrivelse

Set in the storm-battered world of Roshar, The Way of Kings explores a land shaped by relentless tempests and ancient legends. Here, mystical weapons and armour known as Shardblades and Shardplate define the fate of kingdoms and warriors alike.

A sweeping epic of war, power, and ancient secrets in a world shaped by storms and shattered alliances.

Roshar is a harsh realm where powerful storms sculpt the landscape and influence every aspect of life. Animals retreat into shells, trees draw in their branches, and grass sinks beneath the soil-less ground. Cities only thrive where natural shelter exists from the fierce weather.

Centuries after the fall of the ten sacred Knights Radiant, their legendary Shardblades and Shardplate still hold immense power. These enchanted swords and suits of armour turn ordinary men into nearly unstoppable warriors. Entire kingdoms have been traded for these weapons, and countless battles have been won by their wielders.

One such conflict unfolds on the Shattered Plains, a devastated battlefield where Kaladin, who abandoned his medical studies to protect his younger brother, now finds himself enslaved. In a war that defies logic-ten armies fighting separately against a single enemy-Kaladin fights to protect his men and understand the callous leaders who see them as expendable.

Meanwhile, Brightlord Dalinar Kholin leads one of these armies. Haunted by vivid visions of ancient times and the Knights Radiant, and captivated by the ancient text The Way of Kings, Dalinar questions his own sanity as he struggles with the weight of his past and present.

Across the ocean, Shallan, a young woman with a thirst for knowledge, seeks to apprentice under Jasnah, a scholar and heretic who is also Dalinar’s niece. Though driven by a genuine love of learning, Shallan harbours secret motives. Her research into the Knights Radiant and the true origins of the war hints at deeper mysteries waiting to be uncovered.

More than a decade in the making, The Way of Kings is the first installment of The Stormlight Archive, a bold and immersive fantasy saga that promises an unforgettable journey.
