In this volume, the Alethi armies, led by Dalinar Kholin, have won a costly victory against the Parshendi. However, the enemy’s summoning of the devastating Everstorm now threatens the world, awakening the once-subservient parshmen to the harsh reality of their long enslavement by humans.

Kaladin Stormblessed, racing to warn his family, must come to terms with the justified fury ignited by these events. Meanwhile, Shallan Davar explores the ancient tower city of Urithiru, uncovering hidden dangers and secrets within the stronghold of the Knights Radiant.

Dalinar realizes his mission to unite Alethkar is too limited. To prevent civilization’s collapse, all the nations of Roshar must put aside their differences and unite, but first, Dalinar must face the dark truths of his own bloodstained past.
